I'm starting from scratch in a new apartment, and trying to piece
together a system that will work and allow me to watch free to air English language channels preferably in HD. The apartment block has 4 satellite dishes which come into the apartment on one connector. I think these are somehow multiplexed and I have heard "disceqc" mentioned. The one I am interested in is Astra 2D at 28.4E. Is it simply a case of buying a receiver that has "disceqc" protocol built into it or do a need a separate switching box ? Does this normally allow selection of one of four LNBs ? I took a look at a Pace guide to their new receiver, but the menu selection seems only to allow for Bihead DiseqC ? https://www.paceshop.com/download/DS810XE_qsg.pdf Can anyone advise here ? Thanks in advance dave |

And is that what one of the four dishes is pointed at?
For FTA use you could indeed buy any FTA HD box (DVB-S2). Nearly all will support Diseqc natively. However, if you use a Sky HD box (with FTV card) you will get a full 7 day EPG, automatic tuning and 3 extra FTV channels that are worth having. See the FAQ. The Sky HD box is £399 or less for non-subscribers. You can buy it over the counter without subscription. But the Sky box does not support Diseqc and so you would need to get a separate Diseqc generator as you mention. -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these.
