hmmm, the places i found using google all had none in stock. the one site i
did find said they would order on request so try
http://www.datastoragedevices.co.uk/brands/samsung/sv1203n.php

however i currently use a Maxtor 6Y120L0 which i got from dabs.com. This
may be worth considering if you cant get hold of that drive.

The drive works perfectly and there is hardly any noise when its running.
The fan does come on more often but its still not that noisy.

have you looked at http://www.hummer.co.uk/sky.htm for a list of the drives
tested in the box??

drives

Wills, I have ordered a Maxtor 6Y120PO (the one with the 8MB cache). Is this
the wrong one? I see that a special fan assister may be required from the
list of drives in the Hummer website. By the way have you had any problems
with the 17 minute bug or has that been sorted out by Sky yet?

Hiya Joe,
ermmm, its the 'next one up' from the one I have I guess as it has the 8Mb
cache. The reason I didnt go with an 8Mb cache version of the larger drive
is because I am sure I read somewhere that the drive will click more as it
writes to the disk from the cache. I personally do not use the extra fan on
my box but this is due to the box being in open surroundings without airflow
restrictions plus the room its in is always cool. I have not experienced
the 17 minute bug at all since my upgrade although I have read on DS that it
still exists (i havent actually had to reboot the box since the upgrade and
rebooting is known to cause the bug). All in all since i upgraded
everything has run fine <touches wood.... every last bit of it in the
house.... and the garage> lol.
