Default Sony DVD DRU-510A Firmware Update & RAID 0 (sony)

In order to update the Sony DRU-510A firmware, Sony USA tells you to
change the drive from DMA to PIO (no issue here for me), and to
uninstall the Intel Application Accelerator if installed.

See here: http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/downloads/Firmware10f/510update.htm

I have a 320GB drive (2 x 160 Seagate 7200RPM) Serial ATA-150 (a RAID
0 configuration). The IAA readme.txt files states if you uninstall the
IAA, all data and files on the drives are erased and you need to
reinstall the operating system and all programs.

Does this mean I can't update the firmware of the 510A? What am I
missing?

Thanks for any help.
