Which is the best DVD writer for my PC ?
Sony DVD +RW/+R, DVD -RW/-R Combo Drive
Pioneer DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/+RW Combo Drive

They’re pretty much the same. I think the Sony writes DVD+RW faster, if for
some reason this is important to you.
My opinion: Just get the cheapest.

I would say whichever you can get at a lower price, since both appear to be
not only comparable in functionality, but pedigree as well. 🙂

Im really happy with my 500A. And sony are pretty good with their firmware upgrades for faster speed and ironing out bugs. Memnoch

That does indeed seem to be the best as it appears to write to DVD-RAM as well. I have never heard of this drive and it looks quite good!

Yes, unfortunatley I don’t think it is here in Australia yet, so I am
waiting….waiting… I would also like to wait for it to get on the market
and let first up users do the “beta testing” for me then wait for any
reports of problems or support.
-RAM for me has gone from a curiosity to a necessity on my next writer.
-RW – R and -RAM is all I really need (and -RW I could get by without in a
pinch) and this does all of them at nice speeds 🙂

This is an extremely interesting drive…with RAM support! Wish I had known
about it earlier (at $199…seems a great deal).

Wait a couple of weeks.
I wouldnt buy a drive until this one is released because once it has, and it’s
coming out at a great price, the Pioneer and Sony who are cleaning up the market
at the moment, are going to have to rethink things.

I use a laser pointer and a magnifying glass. Takes a while, but I can
write to any goldarn format I please!
Neale 2015-12-09 15:43:32
Since I am too lazy to do research 😛 what’s so good about DVD-RAM?
I thought it was those old things in the caddy’s.

“And for DVD+R/W folks: Verbatim has just started shipping 4x DVD+RW
May be this is the advange on PLUS over MINUS. Speed.
I’ve heard 8xDVD burners will be available soon, not clear if all
media will support this speed, PLUS certainly will.
