My mate has just got sky+ installed and during the install the ‘callback’
failed everytime. Sky initially said it was a BT problem but an engineer
came out and found no fault…He has adsl and he tried with/without the
filters on the phone line from the box but still no joy. Now waiting on a
sky engineer to come out on monday. Anyone else had similar problems.

try seeing if there is a dialing prefix in there by pressing services 4, 01
select takes you to a installer menu then press the option for telephone

All the settings for dialing seem ok…the box detects the phone line etc
but the problem prevents the recording facility from being turned on by sky.
They wont activate it untill the callback is ok.
Might be a faulty sky+ box?

Do they you have caller display and if so , switch it off
Sly 2008-02-02 12:51:36
might look into that, although i have adsl, sky + etc with caller ID and
everything is ok..

Initiate the call-back, give it a second or two to dial then listen in on
another handset. If you have a recorded message saying that the network is
busy then it is a fault with the skycard setup. This was done to death on
I had this problem and eventually Sky fixed it.

The extension lead from the sky box to the telephone socket is too long . Go
straight from the sky box to the telephone socket.

I had simmilar problem with my SKY standart installation. SKY engineers
thought that there is fault with digibox so they changed it (but after
getting 5th they said it’s something to do with BT). But BT said there
is no problem with the phone line. Because of it I can’t book any movies
from BOX Office. I never could! Even after getting new card. How is it
that some people can book movies even not connected to phone line? I
have to ring and book it over the phone. What could be wrong? What can I
Thanks for any information.

Do you have BT Call Minder? The “broken dial-tone” that this produces CAN
cause problems with modems no recognising that there is actually a dial tone
Phil 2008-02-06 20:08:27
yes agree, and switch off cller Id if present, earlier in this thread
somebody “listened in” on a second phone and the problem was with the sky
call back, look down through group

How do you switch off caller ID?
