I’ve tried tmpgenc and a couple others to try to convert an xvid to avi so I
can burn the file to dvd. But no joy. They either don’t recognize the file
or start the process and then send an error message. Likewise, my dvd
burning software (Nero and Sonic) won’t pull it off. Any suggestions?
Also, is there a dvd burning program that forces the letterbox to stay

Disregard previous post concerning converting xvid. Changed a few settings
in tmpgenc and, so far, it’s working out. Still curious if you can force a
dvd to keep the aspect ratio of the source avi.

Yes you can, goto “other settings” then “advanced” and choose “Full Screen:
Keep Aspect Ratio” from “Video Arange Method”
