$2.92 for midgrade today... (Tennessee)
gonna get worse before it gets better too. (

We recently bought an RX-8.. premium only,
and a mere 18mpg..

wife's been driving her 10 year old Civic
as a result. Everything else I drive gets
about 8-10mpg.

Regular: 3.19 a gallon
I live about 80 miles north of San Diego.

But hey ... thank God were not drilling in Alaska / the coasts of California
and Florida!!!!
We don't want to disturb any ****ing Caribou, or accidentally spill a little
oil in the ****ing precious sea!!!
NOPE ... can't have that!

Pay up, America! You get no sympathy from me.
You deserve it ... and stop your goddamned whining!
You made your bed ....

That'll be affected as well should the prices keep rising.
Expect bus, taxi and subway fares to rise.

I was under the impression that it was a hell of a lot more in
California and Hawaii.
Either way, the American consumer is getting ****d.

A few things that really piss me off...

1) minor -- the day crude prices are raised,
the stations are raising their prices on gas
that was in their tank for days.

I worked in gas stations and garages growing up,
and on average, got a tanker coming in once a week.
On the other hand, any news such as crude prices,
unrest in the m.east, or a Katrina type happening,
and owners are scrambling to get prices up.

2) the obvious -- with oil companies reporting
record profits in the billions, EACH NEW
QUARTER, where the hell are we to presume
these higher prices are going to?? It's one thing
to make a record profit due to an abnormal
occurence, but to follow it quarter by quarter??

I got an email I'll post seperate, that indeed sounds
like a possible way for the consumer to help force
prices down..

3) the clincher - Nearly all the high prices are based
on 'speculation'. (I'm aware India and China are
buying more fuel, and the existence of supply and
demand), but most prices are driven by the fears
and/of turmoil in the middle east.

It works like this people, they have 2 ****ing assets,
sand and oil... and we sure as hell ain't buying sand
from them. Shieks are like actors, pro athletes, or
anyone else that's rich due to their single 'talent', and
they sure as HELL don't wanna give it up.Oh, they
sit on their pedastals (sp?) and bitch, whine, moan,
complain and push their weight around, but what
the hell else are these spoiled people gonna do?
work at Burger King?? Ron Artest gonna start
working at the Athletes Foot? Tom Cruise gonna
work at a pharmacy?? Maybe George jr could go
back to running another ball team in the ground.

Difference is, their entire
society depends on oil, and nothing else. If they
had to depend on rugs, pottery and figs to exist
in the middle of the desert, they would be as
irrelevant to us as Scotti's non existant girlfriend.
They would be a total non-entity.

If indeed, total chaos breaks out in Iran, Iraq, or
wherever, and the whole of Islam revolts against us,
the price of gas is gonna be the last thing on earth to
matter..

BY then, it's all out war..
UNTIL then, they've got it, and they're gonna sell it to us.

Prices are artificially inflated..
There is no oil 'shortage'.. never has been. Fuel runs this
country, and if 'they' try to grab us by the balls, it'll come to
a lot worse than the price of gas we are paying now.. because
simply put, we are a country that runs on and demands
fossil fuels.

In certain parts of California it's over 4.00 a gallon.

The American consumer needs to vote in government officials who are for more
drilling in our own country, and
push for serious alternatives to oil. Until then, the American consumer has
gotten what they deserve.
