there's no train to take from DC to Roanoke. we tried everything. every
option. There is
and never has been a train to roanoke for passenger commuter service since
at least since I lived there and certainly I have heard it was discontinued
in the 70s. They still have a Norfolk and southern headquarters in Roanoke
so why don't they have passenger service. It's probably because no one
wants to go to Roanoke. The inability to get a plane in or out of Roanoke
is testimony to that possibility.
Some may say stop being so negative about Roanoke and some will say, it's
just business, nothing personal.
So let's cut to what that really means, it's just business.
It's short cut for no one wants to go to Roanoke. If there was business to
back it ie people who wanted to go to Roanoke, they'd serve Roanoke. Not
sure why people want to go to Covington more than Roanoke, but there it is.
No tickets sold because the amount of people who want to go there does not
support traveling there or restoring a line to Roanoke.
anything else within 2 hours drive was sold out.
Consequently I took the plane on Thursday from Dulles. Fortunately they had
a convenient bus from the Rosslyn metro. About a half hour ride. I'd go to
Dulles again after finding it is so achievable.
The getting back part is even crappier.
It took me forever to figure that part out
