Stream them here - the "soundcheck " and the next day's show. They are fine.

Oh, ok. So maybe I was wrong about no soundtrack existing of the show. I
feel so back of house now

I just made a long post about noone showing up with a tape-recorder. I'll
take a look at those links.

Hay Huh98, where were you 15 minutes ago before I just got thru telling
everyone there were no soundtracks from this Gig? I feels so *BACK OF HOUSE*
now ahahahaa :-)

I read how they recorded it in the first place-

Soundcheck: Recording by Jeffrey Siniawsky and Joel Smith front row, 15'
from stage, mic attached to top of lean-to tent via Noah Weiner

mwahahahaa

I don't have the patience to download any of it. If anyone here does please
let me know how it sounds. I think it would sound like my ass come Sunday
anyway.

ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US!

California Jam WEREO still rulez ;-)

Perhaps you should be lead to a different assumption. :/

The Watkins Glen music (soundcheck and show) is around. I think it
amounted to 6 or 7 discs. The soundcheck is more widely distributed,
I've heard.

Yes, thank you. I found this out yesterday after making a long post that
left a bit of egg on my face chastising you ppl for not recording this
mega-show. I made a long post about you guys not having a soundtrack and
then someone came in a provided a link to a couple of clips.

Too bad that guy didn't chime in fifteen minutes prior; I could've saved
myself a lot of keystrokes!

I read about the technique those couple of guys used to capture some of the
Watkins-Glen SummerJam. They hung a microphone outside a lean-to as they
squat in the first row. They must've been getting juice from somewhere on
the stage because I don't think any portable power supplies were available
back then. They would've needed a lot of D-Size batteries to substitute for
a 120V outlet.

So, whatever they got they got. Now I'm wondering if anything was captured
from the Allmann Brothers Band and/or The Band. Or for the most part is it
just some takes of the Grateful Dead soundcheck here and there...?

Plus I noticed they said some of these downloads come from "radio broadcasts
of the show." So does that mean there was a broadcast from the Site? If
there WERE a broadcast from the Site it would've made it a WHOLE LOT EASIER
to capture some sound than just a microphone sticking out of a lean-to in
the front row. That's fer sure. That's the way *I* did California Jam,
directly from the Broadcast.

There are a lot of unanswered questions when it comes to these Watkins-Glen
recordings that I'm trying to get answers for.

At least when I and I alone recorded the awlmighty California Jam in 1974,
everyone today now knows the exact techniques I used. Straight from the
Wereo Broadcast, into the Panasonic RS736US. A few thingamajigs from the
fingers and hands here.... from there directly onto the 7" oxide reel of
tape. And that's how it was done. And it sounds sweet as hell.

The way these two guys did Watkins-Glen they HAD to have captured what they
captured on a reel-to-reel just like mine or very similar to mine. It was
the only way to tape back then.

Is there a shrine to Watkins-Glen or anything of that sort? Because if there
is maybe I can model a California Jam Shrine after it.
