Default Rob Halford interview in Spin magazine

SPIN: What are you doing right now?

Rob: We're hard at work in the studio. We're in the final
stretch of the recording sessions (for the new album), before we start
playing live together for the first time in over a decade

SPIN: What made you and the band reunite after so long?

Rob: We really felt the loss of not being together and
performing live. It's like having three wheels on a car instead of
four----something's missing.

SPIN:What can fans expect from the reconstituted Priest?

Rob; The hardcore fans can expect what they were experiencing
right up until Painkiller (my last album with Priest) - all of the
same attitude, power, glory and majesty.

SPIN: Gotcha. So, what's so great about playing summer festivals?

Rob: Bands are always checking out what each other are
doing, so there's a kind of competitive element---- getting inspired
and fired up by who preceded you. . I mean, we're going on after
Slayer. If anyone can fire you up, it's Slayer- the most brutal band
on the planet (laughs).

SPIN: Will you be dressed in head ot toe black leather onstage, even
if it's 95 degrees out?

Rob: I have to(sighs) , I'm the metal God. I put my stuff
on like Gene Simmons puts his face paint on and I become the other
character, which is not to say I'm playing games. It's just when I put
on the leather, the studs, the belts and the whips, that's me.

SPIN: What's your idea of a summer song?

Rob: The Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby". Whenever I hear it , it's
like a time warp. I just flashback to being 11 or 12, going to the
southwest of England. It's a song that always gets me.

SPIN: The Darkness: brilliant or as you Brits say, shite?

Rob: The Darkness are the saviors of British rock 'n' roll.
We've just come out of the morbid, depressing mode, with all of these
bands moaning and weeping. Suddenly the Darkness came along and kicked
everyone in the ass and said, "Let's just have some good times again"
I think they're a great band.

SPIN: What's your favorite Priest song title?

Rob: I like "Beyond the Realms of Death" It feels evil when
you say it.

SPIN: Do you have a favorite Priest cover band?

Rob: Yeah, Nudist Priest! I never saw them , but ( my former
guitarist) Pat Lachman did at a club in Los Angeles, and they played
*****. My main questions were: What was the singer like and how big
was his unit?
