I'd like a posting of CD's you've listened to 100 times. The way I
see it, no one's going to listen to half-assed albums 100 times.
Keeping it to somewhat recent releases please. It's no big deal to
have listened to a 20 year old album 100 times. That's only 5 times a
year.

Henceforth...

Agalloch-The Mantle, and Ashes Against the Grain
Woods of Ypres-Pursuit of the Sun
Lacuna Coil-Comalies (for Servo)
Beseech-Drama (for me)
Draconian-The Burning Halo & Arcane Rain Fell
Dark Tranquillity-Projector and Haven (for Ian)
Porcupine Tree-In Absentia and Deadwing (for e.)
Enslaved-ISA and Ruun
Tristania-Widows Weeds & Ashes (for Ritchie)
Mastodon-Leviathan and Blood Mountain
Nevermore-Enemies of Reality
Bruce Dickinson-Tyranny of Souls

Enough to get the fun started.

Tom

I`d say nothing recently. Obviously albums from many years ago by Maiden,
Slayer, Metallica etc.but in recent memory...too many albums come out a year
for any to get to a 100. Itunes keeps track of how many time I listen to an
album...the average peters out around 20-30 whilst the really good ones
creep up around the 50 mark and beyond. I mean, I`ve heard 70+ different
albums released in `07 so far...how can I find time to listen to any one of
them a 100 times as well as digging out old ones from time to time?

I know what you mean. I've probably only listened to the real classics
anything like even approaching 100 times. An album I like but that isn't
anything special I'll probably listen to 20 times (and very occasionally
there after), one I like with a few great songs I'll probably play up to 30
times, and a great record may get anywhere from 30 to 50 plays (and dug out
again every now and then for a few years after). I only start playing the
old stuff again with any regularity when there is a dearth of new stuff I
like coming onto the market.

I don't have anything like iTunes keeping track or whatnot, so this is
only a guess:

(Metal only, from 2005 onwards)

* Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor
* SYL - Alien
* Akercocke - Words that go Unspoken (probably closer to 200)
* Opeth - Ghost Reveries
* Mastodon - Leviathan

Hm...that may be it. There are plenty of albums that probably hit 50+,
but to keep exact track ... who knows? I likes what I likes

It's extremely difficult. Even if you can devote many hours a day to
listening, as you have said you can.
That's why I said 100. It's a lot of times to hear any one album,
and that album has got to really do something for you to want to hear
it 100 times.

Guess I'm going to have to wait for e. to get any actual list. Since
he's just posted the next message, it won't be a long wait. Tom

Probably getting close for me as well.

Never heard.

The current one is probably on the higher side of 25 now.

Damnation yes, this no. I've probably ran it about 20 times.

For sure....Probably more like 150 times for me.

I don't keep exact track, but if I had an i-pod or something that
would keep count it would help. I could only go on the ones I was sure
I've heard that many times. If you listen weekly, then 2 years later
it's 100 listens. There are some almost weekly listen albums on that
list I put up.

It is surely more than 100 posts.

I certainly can`t think of any album that I`m still listening to weekly *2
years* after first hearing it. In the last 10 years the album I`ve listened
to the most would probably be Dead Heart in a Dead World...and I`d list that
as my favourite album in that period as well. But I`ve only played it twice
this year. My favourite albums from 2 years ago were Enemy of God, Nattfodd
and Hazardous Mutation....current listens this year are 0, 2 and 4
respectively.

Words is a strong contender for my favorite metal album of the last decade.

First, Damnation isn't a metal record. Second, it came out in 2003.

But I've played that album more than any metal album in the last ...
oh, I have no idea. It's one of my favorite records of all time. I
never get tired of it.

When I find something I like, I can.

It's a good album, I listened to it not that long ago.

EoG, I've been meaning to give it more listens soon.
