Default Tim Owens pissed off at Jon Schaffer

Former JUDAS PRIEST/current ICED EARTH singer Tim Owens has revealed
to Revolver magazine that he was worried that joining forces with ICED
EARTH mainman Jon Schaffer was a bad idea shortly after the band
started a press tour of Europe in October. No sooner had he and
Schaffer arrived in Spain than the guitarist hit the bar and began
pounding drinks. "I went to bed at 11 o'clock, and at two in the
morning I hear Jon yelling in the hallway," recalled Owens. "He was
still drunk when he got up in the morning to fly to Germany, and he
pissed me off so bad. He was screaming obscenities in the airport, and
on the plane he kept yelling, 'Tim will have prune juice! Tim will
have prune juice!' I said to the publicist, 'If he's not sober by the
time we do the interviews, I'm not doing them.' If we had been on a
boat, I would have pushed him off. I thought, 'Man, I'll never make it
through a tour with this asshole.'

"At the end of the flight, Jon looked at me innocently and goes, 'Are
you mad at me?' He really couldn't understand because he didn't
remember a thing that had happened. Which was a relief, because it
meant he didn't do anything on purpose."

In the same article, Schaffer revealed that he's laying the foundation
for his most multidimensional project yet: a science-fiction
conspiracy concept album based on songs from the band's 1998 disc,
"Something Wicked This Way Comes". The story will cover 12,000 years
of human history, and Schaffer hopes it will be a springboard for a
series of comic books and possibly a motion picture.

it's coming together. This could be my 'Star Wars'."

Still, the album doesn't sound bad. It was quite an undertaking to
take the concept of Gettysburg and put it to music and make something
interesting out of it.
If they can't work together, then so be it I guess. Time will tell,
but if Jon ****s it up by being drunk all the time, then he's going to
end up being the idiot in this. He might have already pissed away a
chance to tour with the re-union Judas Priest. Pissing away a chance
to play this stuff live in any context with the guy who ended up doing
the singing would be a bad thing.

It's alright, but it's the same tired iron maiden/metallica formula
now with the bonus judas priest vocals.

Iced Earth has already announced they are touring this spring as
headliners, so I doubt they will tour with priest. Hopefully priest
will tour with a really good band. Maybe the real Iron Maiden.

Tell me what you think of it. I like the Reckoning quite a lot, so I was
thinking of picking it up.

Personally I like the album. I picked up the limited 2 cd edition. I like
how Tim Owens sounds on it and I like the way the songs are arranged.

I think I did say what I thought of it a bit. It's still a bit early
on to say a lot, because of the epic nature of this CD. The total time
between the two CD's is about 80 minutes. It will take at least three
to 5 listens to really get a good feel for it.
The stuff on the Reckoning isn't too bad, the deal with that
EP-single is that they wanted to put out some of the songs they
thought might get airplay, and the first song was put on to show that
they still were going to be heavy and fast.
Off of the two times of hearing it, aside from the songs on the
Reckoning, I am pretty impressed with Gettysburg. Tom

I also got the two CD set, that's the only one they had at the
record shop, and I am not sure they will stock the single CD one until
the 2 CD limited edition is sold out. How limited the 2 CD set is, I
don't know.
From the note on the website, the Reckoning EP sold quite well. They
put out 40,000 copies in Europe and those were gone real quick, I
guess they've put out a second printing, slightly different than the
other in the slip-cover, digi-pack, or whatever that thing is.
The CD apparently was something like #13 on the single sales chart.
Go to their website and go to the band board, that's where they talk
about this.
By the way, the website has been redesigned somewhat.

You clipped this newstory from Blabbermouth, didn't you. It's not a
problem, except reading the comments, several of the comments think
this is a fake story.
True or not if Jon was drunk and disorderly, and Tim didn't like it.
Wait until next week when it's Tim's turn to do something stupid.

yes , but it's originally from revolver magazine. People that like
iced earth and tim owens tend to not be the brightest bulbs in the
package if you know what I mean. They are the "it ****ing rawks"
types that will say anything to defend their band, so I would take
those comments with a grain of salt.

My GF got me the Reckoning EP when it came out and I liked it so I figured
if the rest of the album sounds like this I'd like it. As you said is it
their best album ? No but I do think its good and have given it two listens
already while driving.
