As previously reported, Nuclear Blast Records has pushed back the
projected release date of the new IN FLAMES album, "Come Clarity", to
February 2006. No reason was given for the delay.

The follow-up to 2004's "Soundtrack to Your Escape", "Come Clarity"
was mixed at Tonteknik studio in Umeå, Sweden and will be "more
uptempo" and will feature "more guitar harmonies" than its
predecessor, according to IN FLAMES singer Anders Fridén.

IN FLAMES will release a live set on double-DVD/double-CD, entitled
"Used And Abused…In Live We Trust", on July 25. Click here for

I like the sound of it being more uptempo with more guitar harmonies. Looks
like they`re listening to some of the complaints from fans. Did you ever get
hold of any of the earlier albums? I may buy the DVD, I`ve caught IF live a
few times and they`re really good. The track list is odd though, it appears
they play all of StyE in order. Seems a strange thing to do with a new
album.

That, I guess is just some sort of special thing. I doubt they did
it for a full tour.
It does happen with other bands. Knowing that you don't like them
much, but Queensryche did a tour where they played the whole Operation
Mindcrime album. And knowing you don't like Fates Warning, but they
did the whole album of A Pleasant Shade of Gray. Both of those are
concept albums, though. Not sure IF considers Soundtrack to be a
concept album.
Been too busy to really get to any backtracking. I wanted to get
more Dark Tranquillity albums as well, but have not done so yet.
In a short bit of time, I'm already committed to getting Nevermore
and AE, so it's going to be pushed back to probably Sept. before I get
around to any of that.
Also, bought the remasters for IGR and HtE (Manowar) recently,
picked up SAS and Stained Class remasters last week. (Judas Priest)
and want more of those remasters as well.

Sure, but those are classic albums played many years down the line. Slayer
did it with Reign in Blood of course and Dio is about to do it with Holy
Diver. It just seems a bit egotistical to do it with a new release,
especially one that`s generally considered to be your worst!

There`s always too much. I tend to hunt around on ebay for older albums, you
can get a lot of bargains. I bought the Rust in Peace remaster the other
day, it sounds fantastic but some of the vocals have had to be re-recorded.
Something to do with damage to the origianl masters I think.

Actually Queensryche did the full album of OM during one leg of
their Empire tour, just a couple years after release.
Fates Warning did that during their European tour for the same album.

That probably makes a big difference. I don't think any of the JP
albums were re-recorded in anyway, they just went in and cleaned up
the sound some, remixed it, and once put to the CD had the sound
volume increased.
Personally, I prefer them to keep as much of the original recording
as possible. I guess if some of the vocals are lost, then you have to
do what you have to do.

Fair enough, I don`t know anything about FW to be honest and I`m not much of
a fan or QR past their first couple of releases so I was assuming somewhat.

Definately. The Megadeth remasters SOUND 10 times better, however it does
seem odd hearing different vocals on a couple of tracks. I`ve hunted around
online, apparently 1 song had totally re-recorded vocals and 1 other had
different vocals from the same recording block back in 1990. It sounds so
much better overall that I`m sure it`ll be the version I listen to again
over the years so I`ll get used to it.

Not a problem, I know you're not much of a fan of either band.

The sound is that much better? Hmm, I may want to actually buy a
couple of those sometime as well.
On those Manowar Silver editions, I didn't really think they were
all that much better sounding that the re-issue ones I got probably 8
years ago now.

I have to agree Tom I've got a couple of them and they sound very good and
better than the originals.

Some of Megadeth's albums, I thought had good sound, and some
didn't. No matter how much I ended up liking the album in question.
So with an album like So Far So Good, So what, I liked the overall
sound. I thought Rust in Peace should have sounded better.
Youth, what little I could tolerate, had good sound, but bad songs.
Cryptic Writings, could have had better sound. I thought Countdown
sounded good.
So how much improvement is the sound on Rust in Peace and Peace
Sells? Those are probably the two I'd be most likely to buy.

I`ve bought the first 4. KIMB remaster came out a few years earlier and
sounds amazingly better. RiP and PS both sound far meatier, the vocals
aren`t buried so much in the mix and the guitar and bass sound is a lot
heavier. Apparently Youth has been made to sound a lot more metal as well
but considering how much you dislike the songs on it I doubt that`ll help
much!
