Marilyn Manson teaches that all Americans really care about are dead
celebrities and serial killers.

Brian Warner was born on Jan. 5, 1969, the same year as the Manson
Family murders. As a teenager, he wondered about the decade he was
born into, and after years of research he decided that the only
figures from that era that seemed important were Marilyn Monroe - a
famous dead celebrity, and Charles Manson - a famous serial killer who
killed celebrities.

After some thought, Brian Warner realized that Marilyn Monroe and
Charles Manson represented the essence of American society, and knew
that his destiny was to become Marilyn Manson.

Manson's satanic message eventually caught the eye of Anton LaVey,
founder of the Church of Satan, who ordained Manson as an honorary
minister in 1994. LaVey admired Manson's creative stage name, but
refused to address him by it since Marilyn Monroe had been a close
friend of his.

Marilyn Monroe, of course, was incredibly famous due to her tragic and
untimely death, and also because of her affair with President John F.
Kennedy, who himself gained eternal fame by having his brains blown
out on national television.

Charles Manson was the (perceived) homicidal maniac (allegedly)
responsible for the death of Hollywood actress Sharon Tate. As with
Marilyn Monroe, the mass media sensationalized the story, serving up
gory details to satisfy the public's appetite for carnage and mayhem.

Forty years later, Charles Manson provides a steady source of
infotainment for the American public, and not a week goes by without
some cable channel trying to boost its ratings by airing a documentary
on him, his Family members, or their celebrity victims.

Though not forgotten, Marilyn Monroe's sensational death has lost
ground to more recent celebrity deaths, including John Lennon,
Princess Diana, Anna Nicole, and Michael Jackson.

Charlie isn't evil, at least no more evil than anyone else. Anton
LaVey once wrote that it is not those who do good who are mankind's
true saviors, but rather those who do evil, for they provide an
example the rest of humanity can use to appear righteous by
comparison. The more sinful the society, the more monstrous a
criminal they need to redeem themselves, and Charlie is that monster.

As for Marilyn Manson, he certainly hasn't killed anyone, but is
accused of being 'evil' simply because he rejects the phony
righteousness of xianity. The lesson Marilyn learned from Charlie is
that the image of evil is profitable, and he uses it as a successful
marketing tool. Image is more important than substance, so real evil
is not necessary to sell records and concert tickets. Marilyn does
not actually have to sacrifice baby chickens to Satan, as long as
people THINK he does.


The mainstream media gives the people what they want. The people want
sensational stories about serial killers, so that's what the media
gives them. This just proves Marilyn Manson's theory to be correct.

I don't really beLIEve in anything, but what LaVey said seems true
enough. It also explains people's fascination with Nazis and their
horrific crimes, since even the most rotten human being looks like a
saint compared to Adolf.
