sorta like youthanasia, a little softer maybe. definitely softer than
TWNAH. i like it, but it is soft. maybe it is just me. why do i say
this? because i think RIP is BY FAR, NOT THE GREATEST megaDAVE album.
i love the album. i love all of his albums. i just think the average
megedave listener is soft.

my list (best album to least). now, don't get wild when you read my
list because the last album i list is still better than 99% of the crap
being produced elsewhere:
1. KIMB
2. PSBWB
3. SFSGSW
4. CW
5. YOUTH...
6. TWNAH
7. TSHF
8. RIP
9. RISK

did i leave anything out?

Wow. I've never seen RIP so far down on a Megadeth fan's list (especially
someone who has KIMB and PSBWB as his first two). To each his own I guess.

I think that it is Megadeth's best album by a mile. I really like the
diversity in rhythms and how well the disc sounds (great job Mr Balding). I
never thought that metal bands were capable of evolving, but Mustaine has
definitely succeeded. Mustaine's voice is much better than I expected and his
melodies are very strong.
The album is a perfect summation of all Megadeth that has preceeded it, yet is
performed with such precision that I have found somewhat lacking from prior
incarnations of the band. The soloing is mature yet still filled with the
aggression of the past. Colaiuta's drumming is so well executed, so damn tight
and makes the band groove like it never had before. (he took 3 days to lay
down his tracks)
It is just a shame that this is the swan song for Megadeth. It seems like it
should be a new beginning rather than an ending...but as an ending, it'll
definitely do. What other groups have gone out on such a high?

me? ididot? yes, i would have to agree. i pretty much hate myself
and everything about me. so, you will get no argument there.

here is my opinion about Rust In Peace - this album is awesome. i
love it. it is about a million times better than any metallica album.
the problem is that it is the album that was the weakest, so it got a
lot of notoriety from the weak listener. it created a bandwagon.
there is nothing wrong with that!!! it just allows me another
'yardstick' by which to measure each and every megadave album. how
could i place any of these albums on a list? i love them all.

o.k., i am starting ramble and even confusing myself. let me try to
get to the point. if i love these albums equally, how do i rate them?
i look at the average listener for each album. how well do *i* like
each person that rates each album?

there i go! that works!

does this make any sense to anyone besides me?

Pick them the way you like. People always seem to think that what they
like is automatically the best. They have these best this and best
that and top whatever polls. It's just stuff that people like. Hootie
and the Blowfish sold 10 million copies of an album I thought was
absolute crap. Of course it's hard to argue I'm wrong on that point,
but still, people like what they like and are influenced by that. Even
if you say you're picking them for technicality, musicaliy, whatever.
You can pick another charateristic to judge from and come up with a
different best. Sure you can take a music expert who understands
structure and such but after a certain point you still have to take
your own personal preferences to seperate at the top. Hey, I can
ramble too. And I'm still damn glad Dave was kicked out of Metallica
because I think they suck and Megadeth rules!

I can`t say I share your love of all things Megadeth. I`d put my list
something like this.

Classics

1.Peace Sells
2.Rust in Peace
3.So Far So Good

Really Good

4.Countdown to Extinction
5.Killing is My Business

Good

6.The System Has Failed
7.Youthanasia

Not So Good

8.The World Needs a Hero

Awful!

9.Cryptic Writings
10.Risk
