I do not think you can point to one specific instance of the MTV ICON
show in tribute of Metallica as a worse disaster than any other part,
the whole of it being so pathetic. Snoop Doggy Dog was not the only
one on that show who propably did not like Metallica's music ever, and
was just there at the instigation of MTV.(I am just postulating Snoop
has never liked Metallica's music or been into it because he is a
typical rapper.) I doubt Michelle Branch or Lisa Marie Presley were
there for any other reason than the urging of MTV. When you get a show
like that and you have these musicians who show zero influence from
Metallica at a tribute show for Metallica, it is a sad spectacle. The
whole affair was an embarrassment but Snoop's cover was one of the
worst moments, I agree.

It's only too bad that the bands who were actually good and have
stated before in the past Metallica as an influence were given such
short times to perform. Korn and Sum 41 (as bad as Sum 41 sucks in
terms of their music, they're quite well-known metal heads, going so
far as to playing it at their own live shows).

Where were the people who really should have been on this programme, people who
grew up in the same scene as 'tallica Exodus, Testament, Rob Flynn, and the
bands directly influenced by 'tallica Sepultura and the likes. They were
overlooked for one simple reason, they're not MTV regulars, MTV is so far up
it's own arse it's frightening, that is why this programme sucked so badly.

MTV's idea of doing a tribute it seems is posing as many MTV regulars
as possible like Lisa Maria Presley(and the big name here is not her's
but her father's), Avril Lavigne, Limp Bizkit, Snoop Dogg, Michelle
Branch, etc. as suppossed Metallica fans. It is so transparent and
easy to see through, they did not convince any Metallica fans that all
of those clowns on the MTV ICON show are really fans.
