Q: What does rock-star decadence mean to you?

A: It’s having someone whose only purpose is to cut lines of cocaine
for you. Or to pour shots. I don’t ever carry cash, but I've seen
rock stars, or whatever they think they are, tossing hundred-dollar
bills around at bars in Hollywood because they have a song on the
radio. All while I’m rolling my eyes so far back they don’t even
roll. That’s nouveau riche. That’s passe.

Q: Then what’s old riche to you?

A: Ha! All right. Well, I'm not saying I did this in Paris a couple
of weeks ago, but taking a thousand dollars' worth of hard drugs and
putting it on the table in front of some of the world's biggest
fashion designers - I'm not saying who they might've been - and then
having the waitress bring over straws. That's good decadence. Bad
decadence is the next day when you have to deal with it.

Does the rev. have a drug problem, or actually
don't sound like he's got any probs.

Marilyn Manson was ordained by Anton LaVey and LaVey hated drugs, and he
especially hated people who imagined that the drugs they took induced
some mystical state of mind. Marilyn Manson is not anti-drug, but he has
expressed contempt for drug addicts or anyone who lets drugs rule their
life (tobacco smokers included, MM hates smokers). People should use
drugs, they shouldn't let drugs use them.

Manson has developed his own brand of Satanism, keeping some of LaVey's
philosophy while straying from it at times, like with drugs. More than
anything, I think when Manson refers to his drug use he is doing it for
the usual shock and outrage, maybe not even having done drugs. Manson
has carefully cultivated an image, even spreading false rumors designed
to shock, such as that he had two of his ribs surgically removed so he
could suck his own dick on stage. It doesn't matter that it's not true,
as long as people THINK it's true they buy his concert tickets hoping to
see for themselves. Same with drugs, he could be as clean as a Mormon
missionary but since that doesn't sell records he needs to make people
THINK he's a wild, hardcore drug addict. In fact, in his recent "banned"
video (s)AINT, Manson makes such a show of cutting up lines of coke and
snorting them off a bible.

Sad story

I was walking through the mean streets of Notting Hill, London when
someone offered me some heroin. I traded some for little marzipan men I
