I heard that the added ending was because Eddie and Alex wanted to
keep recording some more songs and didn't want to leave out some that
were left out. My how times change.

Actually the "added ending" was not an ending of "In a Simple Rhyme" per
se, but it was more of a teaser to another song called "Growth". There
was discussion of completing or releasing that song in full at a later
time or on a later album, but it never happened.

BTW, I always loved the build-up to, and the solo itself, on IASR. One
of those VH "hair stand on end" moments for me.
