Nothing Stays The Same
Late 70's a great new band explodes onto the scene.
The sound of Eddie Van Halen becomes unmistakable
and fans everywhere are making sure that all live shows
are sold out. Then Dave decides to end the only career
he ever had and go solo. Fans complain that Sammy
can't fill Dave's shoes, but as time goes on he is accepted.
The band is never quite the same, but is still a great band.
Weather Sammy quit or Ed sent him on his way makes no
difference. The fact that he is no longer part of the band is
all that matters. In comes Gary. Fans complain that
he is wrong for the band and prove to the band that the
evolution of the band had nothing to do with the music....
It was all about the front man. Fans refuse to go to the
shows. They refuse to give Gary a shot and he moves on
to other things, granting the fans their wish. With Gary
out of the way, VH fans are sure that Dave will come back.
Not going to happen. Nor will it happen with Sammy.
In the long run....it was never about the music. It was all
about the front man. You wonder why Ed is silent?
What does he have to say? The fans made their choice.
Ed & Alex can sit back and enjoy early retirement.
Today's youth doesn't care about classic rock anyway.
They are more into the black mans rap. It's hard to
find anyone under the age of 20 that can tell you anything
about the band other than they were some old rock band.
So in the long run, the band is no more. The era is over.
It's better this way....The music is classic and timeless.
At least we have that..........
