JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
TRUSTEES FOR ALASKA
Litigation Director
Trustees for Alaska is a non-profit, public interest
environmental law firm that provides legal counsel to
protect and sustain Alaska’s environment. The firm is
located in Anchorage, Alaska, surrounded by the mountains of
Chugach State Park, and the waters of Cook Inlet. For
almost 30 years, Trustees for Alaska has represented
conservation groups, Native villages and tribal councils,
and community organizations in judicial, administrative, and
legislative arenas on matters involving the full spectrum of
environmental and natural resource issues.
Trustees for Alaska seeks to hire a full-time Litigation
Director to oversee the firm’s legal work and supervise the
firm’s six attorneys, two legal support staff, and legal
interns. The Litigation Director reports to and is
responsible for working collaboratively with the Executive
Director to establish priorities and manage the firm’s legal
workload; developing case selection recommendations, hiring
and supervising all legal staff; developing and implementing
legal strategies; maintaining relationships with clients and
the broader conservation and legal communities; litigating
high profile cases; assisting the Executive Director in
meeting the firm’s fundraising and management needs; and
representing Trustees in public forums as necessary and
appropriate.
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 6-8 years
environmental litigation experience and strong collaborative
leadership, management, and litigation skills. Candidates
should also have a strong interest in playing an effective
role in protecting Alaska’s environment. Compensation
established for this position includes a salary comparable
to similar positions in the nonprofit sector and an
excellent package of employee and health benefits.
