Overview and Principle Accountabilities Job Description: The
Food Starch Area Supervisor will be responsible for production in
the Specialty, Food, and West Packaging/Loadout areas with an
asset value of $30mm and an annual operating budget of $3mm. The
food starch area contains complex processes involving hazardous
chemicals to manufacture food and pharmaceutical products.
Responsibilities will include managing the day-to-day operations
which includes safety, environment, food safety, QA, maintenance,
cost management, systematic troubleshooting, continuous process
improvements, and engineering to produce product to schedule in
compliance with government, Corporate and FPS requirements. You
will be responsible for the management of 11-15 operators
including training, performance, and new skill development.
Food Starch Area Supervisor 25% 1. Personnel Management
a. Scheduling of department personnel including vacations, and
overtime b. Training: manage the qualification of new
operators, ongoing training, and review of adequacy c.
Communicate necessary information to department personnel in an
effective manner d. Mange employee performance and adherence
to policies and procedures 25% 2. EHS management a.
Review and update ECR system for starch area b. Focus on
production related ECR's. Includes resolution, project
development, and implementation of corrective actions. c.
Perform training as needed for PSM chemicals in dept. d. Work
with maintenance scheduler to ensure equipment is PM'd e.
Review ofP &ID's and procedures as needed f. Provide
refresher training to operators 20% 3. Production
Management a. Work with starch scheduler to meet customer
orders and production plans b. Work with maintenance
coordinator to achieve weekly maintenance schedule, and schedule
future work from production perspective. c. Troubleshoot
issues that prevent production from meeting plan and resolve
issues d. Understand impact items and key drivers of dept.
costs e. Identify solutions for cost reduction and efficiency
improvements f. Manage costs 20% 4. Asset Management
a. Participate in root cause ****ysis for equipment failures
b. Develop, coordinate, and complete expense (and some capital)
projects for system improvement c. Assist in identification
and resolution of repetitive failure items (focusing on food
safety, quality, safety, and environmental) and process
optimization issues. d. Work within the RCM process to
maximize asset health and reliability e. Work with Maint.
Coordinator to meet goals of planned and scheduled work. 10%
5. Process Management a. Identify process improvement
projects b. Manage process improvement projects less than $50m
c. Manage implementation of projects i) Safety, quality
and operational procedure development ii) Operator training
