Research

Duties & Responsibilities:

This is a senior level and strategic position that will be
responsible for further enhancing and elevating our data
warehousing, knowledge management and reporting capabilities so
that it can enable effective decision support and strategic
****ysis. This individual will direct a team of professionals
that manage the RPS data warehouse, Marketing Automation
Applications Administration, Information and Reporting, and the
MA&R Knowledge Portal. This is a high profile position which will
represent these functions to the senior management and lead key
initiatives that involve technology and customer data assets to
drive business impact.

This person will provide the technical and thought leadership for
data and information storage and management, making the
information easily accessible to the users, and bringing and
implementing best practices regarding reporting and knowledge
sharing. This position is also responsible for collaborating with
the Marketing ****ytics and Advanced ****ytics teams to develop
strong relationships with internal clients (business units) and
understanding their needs pertaining to customer data,
information, ****ytics and insights. This requires an in-depth
understanding of database marketing, data warehousing,
information technology, knowledge management, and reporting, and
a strong understanding of SQL and Oracle.

Specifically, this person will:
Provide strategic direction and coaching to the Data Warehouse,
and Information and Reporting teams.
Lead the selection and successful implementation of the new
marketing automation applications including Marketing Resource
Management, Campaign Management, Reporting, Data mining, and
Optimization.
Develop the vision for and provide the intellectual and thought
leadership to continuously challenge the status quo and elevate
the Data warehousing, Knowledge Management, and Reporting
capabilities.
Collaborate with the Advanced ****ytics, Marketing ****ytics,
and Market Research and Competitive Intelligence teams as well as
Retail Payment Solutions (RPS) business units to understand the
specific nuances of each portfolio and develop and implement
detailed plans for leveraging the customer data assets, knowledge
management, and reporting.
Recommend and gain approval for acquisition of appropriate
software packages to meet the demands of the ****ytics groups.
Identify and lead key strategic initiatives for enhancing and
elevating MA&R capabilities.

Knowledge and Skills:
In-depth knowledge and understanding of database marketing, data
warehousing, relational databases, data processing, and
management reporting in the financial services industry.
Knowledge of leading-edge data mining, campaign management and
business intelligence applications is important.
Knowledge and understanding of prospect databases and
familiarity with vendors that specialize in development and
administration of prospect databases for customer acquisitions
campaign, preferably in the financial services industry.
Understanding of how the customer data can be leveraged for data
mining and ****ytics and ultimately drive business strategies.
Excellent communication and presentation skills - ability to
translate complex database marketing concepts to business
partners and clearly articulate benefits and results
Strong orientation to ****ytical rigor, problem solving, and
playing a consultative role
Strong critical thinking skills -- ability to understand
business plans and objectives of multiple business groups as they
relate to database marketing activities
Strong cross-functional team leadership is important, including
the ability to gain the support of key stakeholders and
functional experts, up and down the management chain.

Education:

Educational background in Information Technology, Computer
Science, or related technical discipline with an MBA or Masters
degree is required.

Experience:
Minimum of eight years of experience in data warehousing, data
mining marketing ****ytics and reporting is required.
Experience in design, development and administration of
databases including: creating/maintaining database objects:
tablespaces, tables, indexes, views, schemas, user privileges,
SQL Loader, scheduling and control systems for Oracle processes,
Unix operating system commands, IBM JCL, Oracle Enterprise 9i. In
addition, experience with Oracle 9iAS (application server),
Oracle Discoverer, Oracle 10g, Java, Apache web server, and
Windows NT would be a plus.
Experience in implementation of major software applications such
as campaign management, data mining, business intelligence, etc.
Prefer experience in developing and managing prospect databases,
to drive customer acquisition campaigns (either in-house or
outsourced).
