Description: Summary of Position:

The Senior DB2 System Database Administrator is responsible for the overall activity and maintenance of all assigned databases.

Gathers requirements, prepares scripts, creates do***entation, defines monitoring procedures and coordinates job scheduling to ensure proper and efficient execution of processing.

Maintains records and performs necessary day to day procedures required to control and monitor the accuracy of the assigned databases.

This position requires the in***bent’s availability twenty-four (24) hours a day to resolve operational problems.


Nature and Scope:

The Senior DB2 System DBA reports directly to the Manager of Systems Management pSeries Administration. He/she has the primary responsibility to ensure that all database schedules for processing and subsequent distribution of output are completed on a timely and accurate basis.


Principal Accountabilities:

•Install DB2 software, apply latest fixpacks and perform database upgrades.

•Plan and implement physical database structure.

•Maintain DB2 Variable values (registry values, environment values, configuration parameters, etc.)

•Create Databases, Tablespaces, Tables, Indexes, Views and other database objects (including partitioning)

•Implement database security and user schemas.

•Monitor database log files and performance.

•Perform database troubleshooting and performance tuning.

•Perform Exports / Imports/ Loads/ Runstats/ Reorgchk/ Reorg of data (as applicable)

•Implement database backup scripts and monitor successful completion of database backups

•Perform database recovery testing and high availability readiness.

•Work with Application DBA to perform capacity planning.

•Direct interface with UNIX Systems Administration, Systems Management, Data Center Operations and Application Development teams.

•Interface with AIX Unix Administrators and Data Center Operations to maintain optimal performance of the AIX hardware and DB2 databases.

Requirements:

•5+ years of experience in DB2 Database Administration, supporting large databases (upwards of 1 TB) preferably in the Retail Industry.

•3+ years of experience with DB2 EEE and partitioned databases.

•3+ years of application development experience involving DB2.

•3+ years hands on AIX experience.

•3+ years of experience or participation in large-scale enterprise application implementations.

•3+ years hands on performance monitoring tools and extensive experience in large-scale database performance tuning required.

•Knowledge of i2 Demand Manager, Replenishment Planner and Merchandise Planner a plus
