Position: Software Designer

Location: San Antonio TX
Duration: 6M

Skills: Minimum of 2 years experience in information architecture,
user interface design, technical writing and software
do***entation specific to consumer web-based and desktop
software applications (similar experience with Macintosh,
tablet, and PDA devices a plus).
Experience in formalized software development methods (XP,
Spiral, Waterfall).
Experience in formalized requirements gathering methods (Use
Case ****ysis preferred).
Experience creating site maps and user-centric process flow
diagrams.
Knowledge of how user interface design fit into the overall
software product development cycle.
Understanding of how human factors, usability heuristics,
and accessibility affect software design.
Ability to rapidly prototype and iterate (on both paper and
screen).
Strong interaction design skills (visual design skills are a
big plus).
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with
multi-disciplinary team.
Experience with relevant software/prototyping languages a
big plus (e.g., MS Visual Interdev, Visual Basic 6.0, .NET,
Visual C++, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Fireworks, etc.)
Familiarity with Windows user interface standards and best
practices in web usability (Nielsen) is required.
Strong problem solving and ****ytic capabilities.
An ability to manage multiple priorities and projects to
meet deliverables schedule.
Experience in interviewing customers and performing site
visits to evaluate product use.
Demonstrated experience designing media-rich interfaces a
big plus (e.g., multimedia, eLearning).
A portfolio or other examples of work are strongly
encouraged.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor of Science, Information Systems Management or
equivalent experience.


Scope: The Software Designer is responsible for developing the
requirements and design do***entation that fully detail
the features, functionality and overall look and feel of
commercial Internet and desktop applications. The Software
Designer will collaborate with project team members to
establish, prioritize and do***ent product requirements,
develop and prototype initial functional and UI design
concepts including process and workflow maps. The designer
will do***ent detailed functional specifications that enable
the programming team to produce highly usable application
that fully satisfy customer requirements.
