Position Summary <br><br>Your mission as HR Manager is to work
with plant management to develop employee capabilities and
improve the performance of the operation by facilitating the
implementation of key HR initiatives. <br><br>The Opportunity

maintaining our pre-eminent position in fiber-cement. We maintain
a high level of investment in research and development to stay

production lines this year, and have several more scheduled to

have opportunities for HR Managers at locations across the US.
All of these locations are fiber-cement manufacturing facilities
that operate 24x7x365, and they range in size from 100 to almost
300 non-union employees. Our oldest plant was built in 1989; all
of our facilities are state-of-the-ad and highly automated,
incorporating hydraulic pumps and motors, pneumatic tools and
machines, conveyors, high pressure water splitters, and
autoclaves. <br><br>Position Details <br>Human Resources at James
Hardie is not simply a service for our employees, but rather an
active driver in our continuous improvement as a company. We look
beyond the traditional scope of HR to play a proactive role in
leading new initiatives that enable our business to continue its
rapid and profitable growth. Notably, we are a non-union
environment, and strive to remain so. <br><br>Your mission as HR
Manager is to work with plant management to develop employee
capabilities and improve the performance of the operation by
facilitating the implementation of key HR initiatives.
<br><br>Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will have dotted line
accountabilities to our US Manufacturing HR Manager. Compensation
begins at $70K with 25% bonus potential, but is based on the
candidate's experience and background. What distinguishes this
position from a typical generalist role are the strategic
initiatives involved and the demanding nature of our culture.
This is not an administrative role; you will have the support of
an HR Representative to manage payroll, administer the health
plan, and other similar duties. You will join us in the
implementation stage of four key initiatives aimed at bringing
consistency and best practices to four areas of HR: <br>*
performance management: <br>* recruiting/selection; <br>*
training: and <br>* development. <br>You will concentrate
primarily on the implementation of these programs and on
fostering our culture of high performance, continuous improvement
and results orientation. For example, our training and
development initiatives are aimed at developing internal talent
for advancement. Through a mix of one- on-one coaching and
classroom training, you and the training staff will help the
supervisors become more effective leaders, educate the staff on
new technologies, and give department managers the tools to run
safer, higher yield operations. <br>In addition to these primary
accountabilities, you will devote a portion of your time to:
<br>* employee relations; <br>* employment law; <br>* workers
compensation issues; and <br>* union avoidance. <br><br>Keys to
Success <br>Naturally, your ability to successfully implement the
new HR initiatives and partner with the plant manager and team to
improve the overall plant performance will be the key to your
success in this role. Rather than dictating policy, you will use
expert communication and training skills to ensure that the plant
