Description: Position Summary:
This is a Principal Engineer position within the Broadband Network Technology (BNT) Group. BNT is chartered to conduct business and technical due-diligence for technologies, products, services, and features affecting our entire Network and Internet business. This candidate will work with a multi-disciplined team to research, ****yze, test, propose, report, and recommend approaches to a diverse customer base; adding value to the team from a Communications System and Multimedia Engineering perspective.

Major Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will assume a major role in the investigation, evaluation, construction, presentation, and defense of Conceptual ****ysis Reports and related group output. Heavy collaboration with team members across organizational boundaries is expected on numerous topics. An individual with exceptionally broad and deep industry experience is required.

·Apply hardware, firmware, software, signal processing, simulation, and communications system experience to investigate and/or ****yze technologies, products, features, and services.
·Collaborate with team members to enable insightful, factual, and unbiased technical reports that others will use (throughout the company) to make decisions.
·Monitor emerging technologies and industry developments relevant to the IP Services Division; sufficient to anticipate, ****yze, and report on impact.
·Participate in the design and do***entation of engineering requirements, as project needs dictate.
·Contribute to the design, development, and do***entation of architectures, requirements, lab-related configuration/test/validation plans, and new features/services – as group/project needs dictate.
·Infrequent travel is expected. Special projects and/or other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills:

Education:
·At least 5 Years Directly Relevant Experience (diverse Advanced Technologies Background preferred)
·BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience and self study (MS preferred)

Experience:
·Extensive Communications System knowledge and experience (theoretical and practical); ref. modulation schemes, coding/decoding, equalization, impairments, digital signal processing techniques, algorithmic development, VHDL, ASIC & FPGA/PLD development, OSP, impairment generation/mitigation, etc…
·Cable and Telecom industry experience preferred; with emphasis on Cable Modem and Transceiver Technology
·Experienced with Windows, Unix, Sun, C/C+, MatLab, SPW, Visual Source Safe, Java, Mathematica, etc.
·Lab & field knowledgeable; with emphasis on Customer Interface, Consulting, and Performance ****ysis ability.
