Description: Job Responsibilities Assist with the design and deployment of the Comcast Regional and National TCP/IP network.
Accept responsibility to ensure that network failures are restored in a timely manner.
May participate in the review of catastrophic failures and provide feedback to prevent future occurrences.
May assist with the review of network performance results with Comcast IP Services Engineering group.
Participation on a rotation on-call roster.
Will work with other members of Comcast IP Services team, and Cable system.
Some travel.
Carry a pager 24x7.
Other duties as assigned.

Education:
· Bachelors of Science in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. Several years of experience with TCP/IP networking in an ISP environment can be substituted.

Experience:
· At least 4 years experience in a TCP/IP network environment.
· Excellent understanding of the Internet protocol suite (e.g. ARP, IP, TCP, DNS, and SNMP).
· The candidate should have a good understanding of class-less Inter-Domain Routing (CIDR) and commonly used lower-layer technologies (e.g. Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, T1/T3 lease-lines, and cable modems).
· The candidate should be familiar with the use of both Windows and UNIX Operation systems, including experience with common TCP/IP testing tools (tcpdump, ping, and tracerouter).
· Experience with IP routers, switches (Extreme or Cisco) and a Cable Modem system is desired.
· Experience writing shell scripts and/or C is a plus
· An ISP background or experience with large scale IP network is a plus.
· Proven ****ytical and problem solving ability.
