Job Functions: Service/Skilled - Technician - Independently plans
and accomplishes corrective and preventive maintenance on complex
electronic Intrusion Detection Systems often using only limited
technical do***entation. Serves as an expert in Intrusion
Detection Systems that include Video, Access Control, Perimeter
Access Systems, a variety of communications protocol and
networking. Complexity of assignments typically requires
considerable creativity and judgment to devise approaches to
schedule and accomplish work given tight completion guidelines.
Candidate will be called on to resolve design and operational
issues and make decisions in situations where standard
engineering methods, procedures, and techniques may not be
applicable. Field Technicians provide advice on unusual or
controversial problems or policy matters. Completed work is
reviewed for compliance with overall project objectives and
Statement of Work requirements. May supervise or train and be
assisted by lower level technicians. Typical duties:a. Performs
Preventive and Corrective Maintenance on Intrusion Detections
Systems of various types and manufacturersb. Recommends
approaches to solve design problems.c. Performs system tests and
****yzes results, modifies equipment or installation to improve
performance.d. Assists Project Engineers when directed in
developing system, equipment, or installation designs and
performing IDS Final Test and Acceptance.e. Provides reports,
updates drawings and maintains parts inventories of spares and
test equipmentf. Performs repairs to Fiber Optic and Copper
cabling to include Fusion Splicing, Fiber Optic Connector repair
and splicingg. Determines test requirements, test equipment and
procedures and conducts tests of installed system/equipment using
various types of instrumentation.h. Shall have a firm knowledge
of electronics with demonstrated experience in troubleshooting
and repair of complex electronic systems. Skills in the following
specific types of equipment is highly desireable:· Lenel Access
Control Systems· Vindicator Alarm Enunciation Systems· Pelco
Video Cameras and Distribution/Display Systems· Furuno Marine
Radar· MadahCom Mass Notification System· Motorola Radios· Law
Enforcement Assoc. Inc. Vehicle Inspection Cameras· Fiber Optic
Cable and Associated Communication Devices· AC and DC Power
Supplies, Cameras, Video Recorders, and Video Switchers·
Computers (modems, video cards, device drivers, com ports, etc.)·
Operating Systems NT Workstation, OS/2, W2K, Networking Protocol
TCP/IP· Network Hubs, Switchers, Server connectivity· Backing up
Computer Files (tape, floppy, CD, jazz, zip, etc.)· Microwave
Transmitter/receivers and Spread Spectrum Communication
Equipment· Data and Video Multiplexers, Standard Computer
Communication Protocols (RS-232, RS-485, RS-422, etc.)· Digital
and ****og Multimeters· Hand-held Fiber Attenuation Test Meters
(for fiber cable)· Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDR) (for
fiber cable)· Time Domain Reflectometers (TDR) (for wire cable)·
