~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
:To supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of
staff responsible for construction inspection of City contractor
work; to ensure work quality and adherence to established
policies and procedures; and to perform the more technical and
complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.MINIMUM
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree in
construction management, construction engineering or related
field plus five (5) years experience in construction inspection
or construction management to include two (2) years direct
supervisory experience in a management and/or administrative
capacity. Related education and experience may be
interchangeable on a year for year basis. Possession of, or
ability to obtain, a valid New Mexico Driver's License and a
City Operators Permit (COP) within six (6) months. PREFERRED
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES IN THE FOLLOWING
AREAS:Operations, services and activities of a public works
infrastructure construction inspection programMethods, materials,
techniques and safety standards involved in public works
construction, repair and alterationMethods, techniques and
procedures involved in public works inspectionHazards of the job
and standard safety precautionsPrinciples and procedures of
record keeping and report preparationState and local codes,
ordinances and regulations relating to public works construction
and alterationInterpret and apply construction codes, policies
and procedures, rules and regulation***amine workmanship and
materials and detect deviations from plans, regulations and
standard construction practicesRespond to and deal with difficult
and sensitive situations involving citizens, contractors or
homeowners with courtesy and tactInterpret and explain City
policies and proceduresCommunicate clearly and concisely, both
orally and in writingEstablish and maintain effective working
relationships with those contacted in the course of work
including City officials and the general publicTO APPLY: All
