PC Technician (Network Support)<br> <br> SM611-3236<br>
Responsible for the installation, repair, preventive maintenance,
technical support, operations and training support to users of
PCs (personal computers) and related systems including the
Microsoft Exchange Server. Makes any repairs to components and
equipment that can be done in-house. Will monitor network usage
and capacity. Identify and recommend solutions for smooth
continuing operation of network as capacity needs change.
Performs complex installations, upgrades, and backups of software
and hardware applications. Perform repair and preventive
maintenance. Sets up and tests complex personal computer (PC)
systems and hardware components and provides repair and test
capability for all company departments. Provides general hardware
and software support to users of PCs. Assists and provides
training for users having problems with software. Troubleshoots
software and hardware failures and identifies network problems
when they relate to PCs. Determines methods or techniques to
analyze and test failed equipment. Performs hardware diagnostics
and coordinates repairs.<br> Configures operating systems.
Involves significant customer interface. Other duties as assigned
or required.<br>

Associate's degree or equivalent including college-level computer
courses. May substitute equivalent experience in the field.
Typical minimum experience is two to five years. Requires
thorough knowledge of PC operating systems and peripheral
equipment with the ability to determine methods and procedures on
new assignments. Must have experience and working knowledge with
Microsoft Exchange Server. Working knowledge of MS Windows 2000
and Office XP. Must have working knowledge of desktop operating
software and network systems. Excellent customer relations skills
with the ability to train users on complex applications.
Complete acquaintance with and understanding of computer
products, equipment, procedures, principles, and processes.
Assignments are complex in nature, where considerable judgment
and initiative are required in resolving problems and making
recommendations.
