The Inconundrum Press is pleased to present _4X1_, featuring works by
Rainer Maria Rilke, Tristan Tzara, Jean-Pierre Duprey, and Habib Tengour collected here for the first time in english. Noted editor and translator Pierre Joris (_Poems for the Millennium_ and Paul Celan, most notably) brings together four seemingly disparate authors forming a book of poems, prose-poems, semi-autobiographical prose, and poetic narratives. _4X1_ is as puzzling as it is compelling; locating its common ground with a single translator and functioning as a image of the development and diversity of twentieth century poetics. "The translations here form a kind of hieroglyph of 20th-century modernism, a signal of dynamic forces drawing from diverse threads of tradition and cultural interrogation...this unique gathering contributes to what the vast field of contemporary poetics has become: a complex occasion of forces." -Rain Taxi Review of Books (Summer 2003) You are encouraged to visit the Inconundrum Press web site (www.inconudrum.com) to read more about _4X1_ and connect with our other endeavors including the 2003 Melville Novella Contest. Hope to hear from you. Cullen Kerekes Executive Editor Inconundrum Press |
