Five Hundred Million Years of Inspired Design
by Hugh and Marguerite Stix & R. Tucker Abbot
Photographs by H. Landshoff
This is one of the most beautiful and revealing presentations of sea shells
ever published. With dramatic layout and design, stunning B&W photos, and
numerous breathtaking color plates, each shell is presented as an inspire
collecting, and the influence of shell forms on art. Abbott comments on each
species of shell reproduced, bringing to bear the professional malacologist's
knowledge and devotion combined with impeccable scientific information. 203
illustrations, including 82 hand-tipped plates in full color. The book is
ex-library and the exterior shows considerable use, but the plates could
even be removed and framed by someone industrious. Signed by R. Tucker
Abbott on the title page.
