As someone who has allergies and uses a humidifier in the winter I would
suggest a cool mist humidifier. My allergist says is best to keep relative
humidity levels inside the home between 40% and 50%. I keep a humidity gauge
in the bedroom and make sure the humidity levels do not go over that. Above
that encourages mold and mites.

x-no-archive: yes

I use a cool mist one, too, with a filter for bacteria/fungus/mold and I
change the water daily, wash with bleach weekly.

Your allergist is a tad on the high side; I never set my humidistat
above 40%. At 50%, dust mites thrive, under 50%, they die.
