Default Biopsy experience

Yesterday I had my 3rd biopsy since being diagnosed with PC 3 years ago. It
was 10 needle stick and a breeze because the doc not only used standard
desensitizing gel, but also gave me a shot in the but with a novacaine-like
substance that really killled the discomfort.I wish my previous 2 docs would
have been so kind. Also, knock off the regular aspirin at least a week in
advance of a biopsy. The 81mg version is OK even on the day of biopsy
according to the nurse a MD Anderson CC.

??? You are not diagnosed with prostate cancer until the biopsy is positive,
then most of us never get another prostate biopsy. You have had perhaps a high
PSA reading and a lump on DRE, but no cancer found, which leads to more biopsy.
The cause may be a benign enlargement of the prostate (BHP) or an infection.
If an echogram of the prostate has shown no enlargement and antibiotics haven't
lowered the PSA, you have a future of more biopsies. Good luck!

Danny:
This email was to help those having their first biopsy.
I was diagnosed 3 years ago after a biopsy but chose to do watchful waiting
until now. During that time, my doctor wanted check for any aggressive
tissue about 2 years after the first biopsy.

Carroll,

I think Danny has forgotten that you were 71 when diagnosed. We don't have
many seasoned citizens in this group and I think you're the only watchful
waiter.

So, when do you get your results?

Sorry 'bout that! My dear uncle was 76 when he was diagnosed with prostate
cancer, and had surgery immediately. He is now 83 and doing well. His wife
now has breast cancer.
