Hi and thank you in advance for any insights you'll share. My husband does not
have a diagnosis yet. In the late summer, he started having nighttime urinary
incontinence. We waited to go to the doctor because we attributed it to
sleeping deeply via the use of a new C-Pap machine to treat sleep apnea. So,
we waited a couple of months and then went to the doc who found protein in the
urine, a Creatine level of 2.5, high blood pressure (new condition to him) and
an elevated BUN level. Ultrasounds were ordered and revealed that the bladder
was retaining a lot of urine and there was kidney damage. Went to see a kidney
doc/Nephrologist who referred us to a Urologist who ended up draining the
bladder in his office, discovering 4x the normal amount of urine. Still no
known cause for the urine to be backing up. A catheter was inserted and my
husband spent a day in the hospital under observation. The urologist said a
cystoscopic would be ordered. It's been 3 weeks and the urologist says the
cysto needs to wait until the urine output is more normal (concentrated) and
the kidney function blood tests look a little better (the Creatine level is
down to 1.9 now). The urologist says that doing the test too soon will only
show red/irritation of the bladder from the draining, that the results won't be
accurate. Wondering, does this make sense to people out there? I am worried
that we should get this test done to see if there's bladder cancer. Please
send advice! Thank you, Becky
