Default Neumega/olprelvekin and low platelets

Has anyone been given Neumega (oprelvekin) shots to increase very low
platelet counts? Or does anyone know anything about it--ie, is it
good, safe, side effects, etc? I'm going to ask my doctor about it
tomorrow, but thought I'd seen if anyone here has had any experience
of their own with it.

Thank you.

Hi Robin,

No info on Neumega, but just wanted to say hi.

BTW, My Oncologits lied to me. I have some hair coming back after whole
brain radiation. There are bald spots, but there is definately hair
growth. He couldn't believe it when he saw me a few days ago. Claimed I
am the first he's seen to come out of whole brain radiation with hair.
You were wondering about that a few weeks ago, so I thought I'd update
you.

Most people who have whole brain radiation get moderately good hair
regrowth.

I know this should be last on my list of concerns, but what can I say,
I'm female <g>.

Have you noticed what the average time is that people start getting
hair regrowth after WBR or similar treatments? Or have your patients
moved on by the time you would be noticing this?

Thanks.

I think mine was about 3 1/2 months It is still patchy. It looks like I
will have bald spots. The new hair is thinner and slower growing than
the old.

Thanks, that's good news! My radiation oncologist swears that mine
will start growing back after two months from the last treatment, but
it's been about a month, and it's still falling out. I'm very glad to
hear you say yours is coming back in!
