prostate bed radiation
escaped from the capsule?
I had a positive margin and they saved my nerves and didn't know if PCa
might have been left behind there. My psa returned to a level of 0.3 a few
months after surgery. It was <0.1 six weeks after surgery.
Where was it done?
Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, NY by the now famous - at least to me - Dr.
Smith. My psa at this time is <0.01 thanks to him, his staff, my Uro, God,
and people on this newsgroup who guided me in the adjuvant - salvage radiation direction.
38 treatments IMRT 7 angles 5 days a week -weekends off started 3.30.03 - 5.21.03
treatment?
I had a hemmoroid that got worse due to the radiation. I didn't even know I
had it going into radiation. Was tired at the end of the week. I did what
the people on this newsgroup said to do and it helped immensely. Drink a lot
of water, exercise, get more sleep, pray, and maintain a positive outlook.
It burned a bit when defecating at the 3rd week. My Dr. said I would get
some burning when urinating as the treatments continued - but it never
happended. To me it was a breeze.
4 months +
My Uro wanted me to take the hormone pills and get the Lupron shot before
radiation. I went to the drug store and purchased the pills but never took
them. Never got the shot. My Uro stated that taken hormones before
radiation could increase the chance of success by weakening the PCa. I
discussed this with my Dr radiation/oncologist and he stated it would be ok
not to take the hormone treatment. I am sure my Uro would have disagreed.
Good luck Pete
