Paul, here's a neat 'Keyboard Shortcut' for you to try....

Personally I would be lost without my scroll mouse. That little wheel in the
middle of the mouse completely changes the way you use your computer. One
neat trick you can do with your scroll mouse is to change the size of text
in Microsoft applications, including Office and Internet Explorer. Hold down
the "control" key and move the scroll wheel. Text will grow or shrink
depending on which way you scroll. This won't work on every website. Some
folks design their pages so text won't scale, but it will work on most of
them, and can be useful if you're using a monitor on the blink or just
forgot your glasses.

Make sure you pick the Text Size in Internet Explorer......it governs
same in Outlook Express.

And on my computer (WinME), I have changed it so that the print is for
the legally blind. I kid you not!! I forgot it was larger until my
daughter was here at Xmas and she thought it was neat!! She wears
glasses too.

If I remember correctly, go to....
Start/Programs/Accessories/Accessibility/Accessibility Wizard and play
with that. There is also a magnifying glass there that I have never
used.

I will ponder on the keyboard shortcuts I use......as my daughter uses a
Mac, she uses them coz they don't have the right click function on the
mouse. So she was telling me some. And on my keyboard, (damn, I can't
see them at the moment.....eyes tired, grin).....but on the front side
of the keys is the function that you get if you use Ctrl + that key. I
see that Steve K. knows them.

Cheers.....Heather

Your daughter probably already knows, but if she doesn't, tell her that
since Mac OS 9.something, control-click produces hierarchical menus
similar to the Windows right-click, and after-market mice with multiple
switches can (probably) be programmed so that right-click equals
control-click.

Thanks Larry.....She has an OS 9.2 and another lesser one. I will
forward this to her. At her new job at the college, she uses a PC (and
curses a lot, grin).....but she knows how a PC works now......so will be
glad to hear about that.

Cheers.....Heather

That is great! I never knew that!! Of course it's probably buried in the
manual someplace which I never read. LOL Of course this is coming from the
person who cannot read the phone book with her glasses and a magnifying
glass. If this is "old" age - it sucks!

Somebody decided that posting with the caps lock "on" is shouting. Basically
it is not as pleasing to the eyes as lower case. So the easiest thing is to
just type in lower case - we'll mentally fill in the caps where needed.
Sometimes people need to be more tolerant.

There is something called netiquette. I have no idea who made up the stupid
rules. But there is a whole top posting or bottom posting thing. Personally
I don't like bottom posting - it slows down the time it takes to read
something because I have to look for the response. Personally I don't think
it really matters. So don't worry about posting and all the silly rules. It
is by far better to participate and be comfortable then it is to worry about
a bunch of rules.
