Stereotactic biopsy needs MRI to confirm?
I read somewhere else that someone needed both to diagnose
calcifications. Is this true and in which order?

I had stereotactic biopsy and there was no MRI ordered and I don't see why
there would be as the material removed at biopsy is examined for carcinoma.

You would need some sort of biopsy to confirm a positive MRI or other
imaging result, but not the other way around.
