They still make them called retention beads.One of the reasons there was
product failure recently with composite to metal was because of the lack of
mechanical retention.

We actually used the 'oven fired acrylic' technique.
It was just an exercise. Composites were not that
highly developed at the time, in fact we had the option
of using the paste/paste system or the ultraviolet cured
system for patients. We did have to learn both.
Whoops, sure dated myself there <hehe>.
