You or an assistant can ask the question privately.
IOW when there is *no one* else in the treatment/x-ray room.

Probably best asked by a female, but male "the doctor only" is OK too.

I usually assume that females of child bearing age may be pregnant
and take the appropriate precautions during radiographs.

I'm just looking for suggestions (mom always wants to hang close when we are
taking beginning records) that won't end up with a "HOW DARE YOU INSINUATE
THAT !!!" from the mother while she is dragging the kid out of the office.

Of course that hasn't happened here yet. Then again I thought we might get
some good stories from this one.

In my office no parents allowed in treatment room.
An easy way to get them out is to tell them that
you don't want to expose them unnecessarily to x-rays.
And then offer them a seat in the reception area.

That would be 99% of my patients. Some of those mothers have their face
closer to the patient than I do. One of these days I'll wire some mother's
hair into her childs braces.

That's a good idea though. Maybe a laminated chart for each patient to
review.

How would a health history made out by a 13 y.o. and not witnessed and
signed by a parent/guardian hold up as a legal do***ent in court? Steve
