Is this a normal side effect of extraction?
Hello and thanks for reading,
6 days ago, I got three non-erupted, impacted teeth pulled--one wisdom
(upper left); one wisdom and one 12-yr (lower left). Everything seems
to be going well, but the molar directly in front of the 12-yr (bottom
left) is lightly bleeding along the outside base of the gumline. It
just started happening last night, so about 4 1/2 days post op. I
tried using a light compress and it did stop for about 15 minutes but
then started again. Is this normal or anything to be concerned about?
The surgeon (an absolute gentleman and a saint) told me before all
this that there was an outside chance I would lose that tooth if the
bone didn't fill in, but that I wouldn't know for months and months
down the road. I'm hoping this blood is a good sign that things are
filling in (?) or maybe just a way of the gums healing. Can anyone
set my mind at ease? I hope my description is detailed enough--the
dissolving stitches are still there; I'm 27 years old and in good
health; I smoke, but I did wait for 3 full days before I had a
cigarette and have had 8 total since then; my scripts were 600mg
Ibuprofen, Percocet, Dexamethasone, and penicillin. Thanks so much
for your time and help.
Sincerely,
Michael
