Default What's the latest scoop on Mexican dentistry?

"X-No-archive: yes"

In an old post by "Jim" I read that the fit of mexican crowns can be
described as "socks on a rooster"

Q: Does "socks on a rooster" mean the margins show?

Q: Has someone here some actual knowledge or real experience with
Mexican dentistry other than that they usually or always send their
work out to American labs?

Q: Are the dentists below the border made up of mostly Mexico-only
trained dentists?

Q: Is there a percentage of dentists practicing in Mexico who are
American trained American dentists who lost their licences in most
states for some reason?

Q: Do some dentists loose their licences to practice for reasons other
than praciticing poor dentistry? (Seriously)

Thanks, Tedi

Socks on a rooster are also called "Puss in Boots." This is a way of
describing skinny legs fitting into huge hip-high boots.

Now they take huge amounts of cement to stabilize in place! The crown
is way huge for the size of the tooth!

This may or may not be accurate depending on the practitioner. There
is nothing in the Mexican gene pool that says that they MUST make Puss
in Boots crowns. It is really possible that many Mexican dentists
outperform our American counterparts. It is basically xenophobia.

Conversely some of our Mexican restaurants are actually good!

Picture how well a pair of human socks would slide over rooter feet.

At least a handful of them.

Drug convictions, lack of continuing education, felony arrests, physical
inability to work, etc.

OK yep have seen this, think that most of the stuff (refuse to call these
restorations) are actually pre-fabricated and stuck on teeth with
huge amounts of cement (zinc phospate ?)

Not in my experience. The best I have seen is well below average American dentistry.

Only the ones in New Mexico, Arizona, S. Cal, and TX
and not all of those.

Most of what I have seen is made out of NP metal
and fits like it was made for a different patient.

Surely lower than in the US

Freedom ? Yeah maybe, after you pay the bribes.
There are communities of American retirees there,
you can live like a king in Mexico for a pittance.
Just keep your payments on time.

Thai dentistry is a new form of exercise that is all the craze right
now. It is replacing Ti-Bo.

Very cool!

There is cheaper yet ,,,,,,,,, go to the wilds of North VietNam and
the fee is less. Mosquito repellent is even included!

The rents are really low because they work outdoors ......

On occasion a bridge does not stay put by itself due to the alignment
of the teeth and or the taper. This means on occasion it cannot be
helped.

Other times I try it in and I cannot get it out!

Just how it is.
