Default Polyps in the Esophagus?? (endoscopy stomach heartburn esophagus throat)

Cany anyone give me advice about a recent finding I had of polyps in
the esophagus? Three weeks ago I had a bout of severe heartburn that
was accompanied by fever and bloated stomach. The fever lasted
approximately four days. Since that time I have had a feeling of
intermittent obstruction in my throat. I had an upper GI endoscopy
today - they found and removed multiple 3 mm polyps in the middle
third and upper third of my esophagus. In the picture they look like
raised white bumps, almost like blisters. The doctor mentioned that
they were inflammatory polyps and then he ran off. Are such polyps
common? Will they return? Are they are precursor to any other
problems?

Thanks for listening..

They are common, may or may not be related to reflux. Those "polyps" are not
causing your swallowing difficulties. See what the path report shows on
them, but I'll bet it shows nothing.

Swallowing difficulties in people who have GERD are almost always related to
either a stricture at the GE junction, or due to an esophageal motility
problem (which may in turn be related to esophageal damage from reflux - but
not always).
