Default tapeworms for weight loss (exercise)

If people are willing to try all kinds of strange diets, exercise regimes,
or even stomach stapling, why not tapeworms? The side effects seem less than
many of these other methods, yet there seems to be no more reference to the
idea than vague rumours of it being done in the 1920s.

(I have no intent of doing this, and I don't recommend it to anyone; the
question is hypothetical)

Default tapeworms for weight loss (pound)

Tapeworms can become so large as to cause an obstruction that would require
surgery. Along the way, they can cause nutritional deficiencies.

The 2 pound diet approach has no reported side effects:

Sure, but they'd have to produce some pretty heavy eggs to cause any
real weight loss.

I'm not a fan of sushi, but I've heard that fresh fish is routinely
frozen now, in part to kill any parasites (apparently it does kill
them).
