Default Arianne (appendix colitis hyperventilation)

A quickie this, as I don't have many details. Whilst away for a
couple of days (just got back) I received a couple of SMS
messages from Beth. Arianne has been taken to hospital - a
different one this time but I don't know why - with pain and
severe vomiting; also some hyperventilation. The latest news
(today, Sunday) is that it could be her appendix rather than the
colitis; I'll post more when I know. Beth reports that her
mobile phone battery is low so I don't know when I'll hear from
her again as I know she'll stay with Arianne at the hospital.
One good thing is that Beth's mother, a theatre nurse, lives
nearby and for all I know may even be working in the same
hospital. At least Beth won't be on her own, and the other
girls can stay (I assume) with their grandparents close at hand.
Life's a bummer at times innit. Poor child: as if she hasn't
gone through enough already :-(

Default Arianne (appendix)

Fran - Please pass along this (((((((Arianne))))))) and also
(((((((Beth))))))) as I'm sure she can use the hugs as well. Let's hope
it's her appendix and not her UC. Please keep us posted.

Default Arianne (appendix colitis ulcerative)

Poor Arianne I hope she starts feeling better really soon.

On the bright side (?), if she does end up needing her appendix removed,
research has shown it can help with ulcerative colitis. A hospital in
Brisbane (Australia) if I remember correctly has been experimenting with
giving UC patients appendectomies in an attempt to relieve their colitis
symptoms.

Please keep us updated when you hear more Fran.

Take care,

Amy

Default Arianne (appendicitis)

Amy said...

And so say all of us. The latest is that rather than
appendicitis it could be oesophagitis. Apparently at the moment
Crohn's is not suspected, which can only be a good thing
presumably... Beth's had the good sense to come home to sleep
tonight, because the girls start back at school tomorrow after
the long Summer vac. At least she'll get a good night's sleep
that way. Her mother will stay with Arianne so the child won't
be on her own. I'll post again when I know more; I may pop in
to see if Beth's around tomorrow morning after I've seen my own
youngsters off to school.
