Default OT Ramblings (heart cancer)

Chris, this is terrible. Trouble is people usually don't stop until they want
to. There is a lot of "It can't happen to me in this world." When I was in
nursing school it seemed to me as if every other patient had cancer. Just seemed
that way because we were a tertiary care hospital and got a lot of those cases.
But it is a disease I hate with all my heart.

Take care, and let's hope Brian will stop too. Second hand smoke is not good for
YOU.

Chrys, I sympathise. In 1995 I was a part of a typical 4-person nuclear
family. Within a little more than 4 years I lost my Mother, Father, and
Sister. I know what you are going through. My Father had cancer, but I
don't think it was tobacco related. He smoked and stopped about 20 years
before he died. My Mother had a heart attack in the middle of the night. My
Sister had MS and died in 1995. She continued to smoke until she died. I
wonder how it affected her MS. Whenever it was suggested that she quit
smoking she said "It is something I enjoy. It is all I have left that I
enjoy." She had a much harder time with her MS than I have with mine. I
wonder how much that is due to the fact that she smoked and I don't. I am
also in the desert (Las Vegas). We should get together if we are close.
Hang in there Chrys.

Fred.

The basic difference is that Clinton and Carter probably don't feel the need
to hate the people who disliked them. With propagandists such as Limbaugh,
Hannity and the rest stirring up a storm of unreasonable hatred amongst the
ill-informed, this country will continue to divide, wider and wider...
That country in Europe had similar propagandists before the conquest of
Poland and France, lest we forget that the roots of fascism lie in hidden
under the flag of fanatical nationalism.
History has a way of repeating, sad to say.

alt.support.mult-sclerosis,HAMPERSHILL@webtv.net (Chrys and

I am truley sorry for your loss.

I stopped even opening anything marked "OT" or anything even
looking like it may relate to politics, a long time ago. In
fact, I stopped opening anything that even looked like it might
not be about MS.

I seldom listen to the radio, but a few months ago I heard Tears
In Heaven" by Eric Clapton and mentioned it to Kathy.

Her father had died just a few years ago and her mother died
about 5 years before that.

She said that the sond reminded her that she is an orphan.
<sigh> Too bad, cuz I thought that she might like the song.

Chrys,
Your mom will always be with you. You are not an orphan. If you want
her there, she's there right now. She's happy and I know she will
help you to help Brian to quit. Robert (my husband) started smoking
again recently and I hate it. He didn't smoke yesterday-he says-and I
am hoping that he'll leave them alone at least for awhile. I don't
think he realizes that he is the reason that I get up in the morning
and deal with this every day.

Speaking of Carter - look at all the good he does. He's a good &
intelligent man. Compare him to Bush senior.

Chrys;

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Please accept my sympathy.

And I agree with you about the political postings. No one is going to
change anyone's mind with a political post. I think we Americans must
be driving our friends in other countries to distraction with our
politics.

I missed seeing you on the NG. Ignore the political posts; I do. If
I want to find out what's going on in the world, there are plenty of
sources, which I use.

Sylvia
