Default A query - please help

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the appropriate group to ask in, I can't
find any info on this anywhere.

5 days ago I dislocated my arm and was given IV morphine to kill the
pain. When the doctor was doing the injection, she was wiggling the
needle around in my vein for a while, finding the right spot. When
she actually injected the morphine, I felt a bubble of pain moving up
my vein, which didnt feel healthy as I was on hefty painkillers.

Now the area where the injection took place is *extremely* sore - it
hurts when I move my arm and I have to take painkillers for it. Also,
I seem to remember that my vein was visible, on the surface in places
before. It isn't now. Can anyone tell me what's going on and give me
any advice?

Thanks a lot

You're having a local reaction. Sounds like you might have gotten butchered
by a doc who could be more skilled with needles. I'm willing to bet that
the doc missed the vein and gave you an SQ/IM/IV combo. I'm suprised that
you're still suffering almost a week later, however.
Just try to let it run its course for a few more days. If the discomfort
does not subside or gets worse then see your doctor again. Under normal
cir***stances this will take care of itself.
