Hi all,

I recently started taking Celexa due to the fact that I experienced
weight-gain with all anti-depressants I've tried (I've tried all but the
MAOIs - can't live with the dietary restrictions) I would take Wellbutrin,
however, since I also have co-morbid anxiety problems, my doctor doesn't
think it's a good idea. I don't know where I got the idea that Celexa is
less likely to cause weight-gain, is there any truth to it? I told my doctor
so and he neither confirmed or denied it.

I was on Cipramil (Celexa) for nearly four years (before it stopped
working), and during that time I went from my usual weight of about
75kg - 80kg (165lbs - 175lbs) to about 95kg (210lbs). I'm 178cm
(5'10"), so I looked pretty weighty, though not a real "whale".

I didn't like it, but I'd tried so many anti-depressants that hadn't
worked that I was just grateful not to be depressed any more. I was
willing to put up with the weight gain. As to whether it's worse than
any other anti-depressants I don't know; I suspect that like so many
anti-depressant actions, it varies widely from one individual to
another.

you eat more on Celexa ? Or its a water retention problem ? Cause Iost 5
pounds since Im on Paxil ...

You could always combine Wellbutrin with a med you need that might
causes weight gain. Wellbutrin takes away my appetite. Since I have
PTSD and panic attacks I was put on paxil which can make you gain
weight. Didn't gain weight. I, too, am now on zoloft since I can get
it for $15 with the pfizer card and still do not have an appetite with
that and the wellbutrin.
