I didn't know Imitrex tabs were that big. I use Zomig and they are a tiny
dosage -- only 2.5 or 5 mg tabs.
Works within an hour for me and the side effects were never as bad as what
you describe. In fact, they seemed to diminish after the 3rd time using it.

Yep, me too. I love DHE for the really nasty episodes. Sometimes I get
queasy, but I typically try to give my self the shots during times when I
can lie down. I've never gone to Migr**** simply because I'm used to the
shots and they work. Back in 1996 when my neuro introduced it to me, it was
a lifesaver...then along came Zomig which is my other life preserver.

Imitrex comes is different strengths. 25, 50 and 100mg. The drug company
originally came out with 100mg as the reccommended dosage and the FDA made them
cut it down. The RD is now 50mg.

Anyway, try using 50 at first. If that doesn't work within an hour or so, try
another 50.

I've found that 50 mg. usually works just fine. The headache may/may not come
back but at least I'm not reeling from the effects of the drug.

You can get a pill splitter at your pharmacy although why the drug company made
pills in triangles is beyond me.

I cut them with the pill cutter all the time just point the label
towards the top of cutter and the rest of the diamond lays right in
the V. Works great for me.

Thanks so much for this info! I have now started cuttng my tablets in half
and take 50mg each time - and it works fine with much less side effects!!

I even cut 10mg Maxalt in half and have found that if Maxalt is going to
work for me that time, that dose will. The way I figure it and someone
PLEASE correct me if I am wrong.....5mg Maxalt works for me. But may not
last long. I was told three 10mg Maxalt were the maximum in a day (that;s a

It works for me I rarely have to DO that.....but seems better than just
popping 10mg, then in 2 hours 10, and if that bad in another 2 hours the
final 10 mg....it seems like a more personlized, graduated dose.
